Blackhawks' resurgence adds allure to Winter Classic

By Brian Fitzsimmons, PA SportsTicker

The Chicago Blackhawks have been hearing the buzz all season long.

Sure, their resurgence toward the top of Chicago’s sports scene - coupled with the stellar play of 20-year-old captain Jonathan Toews and reigning Calder Trophy winner Patrick Kane - has helped.

But the electricity generated by the Blackhawks’ dynamic duo only adds to the allure of the upcoming Winter Classic, which will be played New Year’s Day at Wrigley Field.

“We’ve been hearing about it everywhere we go in the city since this summer and since the press conference,” Toews said. “When it was officially announced that we were going to have that game, I think the city of Chicago is really excited about it.

“I think it kind of goes along with the whole hype of how the Hawks are back in this city, and hockey is back. I think it’s a lot of fun for us to walk down the street and have people at restaurants and everywhere we go talking to us about it.”

“The Road to the NHL Winter Classic” will reach Wrigley Field on Tuesday, as the 53-foot NHL Refrigeration Trailer - which will make the skating rink for the annual outdoor game - rolls onto Waveland Avenue.

The trailer will be greeted by Blackhawks president John McDonough and legend Bobby Hull along with Cubs chairman Crane Kenney.

Last season’s Winter Classic drew 3.7 million viewers, making it the most viewed NHL regular-season game since January 27, 1996.

You’d better believe the Blackhawks’ matchup against the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings in this year’s game will surely attract another strong audience.

Lately, the Blackhawks are used to having all eyes on them.

They currently lead the league in attendance and have sold out all 15 home games at the United Center, averaging more than 20,500 fans.

Chicago is trudging through a five-year playoff drought and has qualified for the postseason just once in the last 10 seasons. Surely, the tides are about to turn.

“I think it’s pretty cool,” Toews said. “I think it’s obvious I was a pretty lucky kid on draft day to go to Chicago. I never imagined that my first few years in the league would be this exciting - and this historical in a way - (because) it’s been a struggling franchise.

“Now, we’ve been making headlines across the league for things that our team and our organization has been doing on and off the ice. So, I think we have a young and exciting team right now. A lot of potential, a lot of star players - it’s just a lot of fun to be part of in so many ways.”

It’s remarkable to think that in February, 2004, ESPN named the Blackhawks the worst franchise in professional sports.

Indeed, they were shunned for much of the 1990s and early 2000s, due to anger over several policies installed by their late owner Bill Wirtz, who did not allow home games to be televised in the Chicago area.

Now, every home game has been aired and a wide variety of hockey fans have become accustomed to the high-scoring Blackhawks, who are second in the Central Division - behind only Detroit.

Coming off an impressive 20-goal, 54-point effort in his rookie campaign, Toews has continued to blossom into a star, while Kane is currently in second place among Western Conference forwards in the All-Star fan balloting.

In fact, Kane can become the first Hawk to start an All-Star Game since Chris Chelios in 1997.

Both youngsters - along with Patrick Sharp, Martin Havlat and rookie sensation Kris Versteeg - have helped Chicago become one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the league.

“Obviously, it helps when (Kane) is a year older and (Toews), and (Sharp) has his confidence going,” said Chicago defenseman Brian Campbell, who was signed as a highly coveted free agent in the offseason.

After a 1-2-1 start this season, coach Denis Savard was fired and the Blackhawks brought in former Colorado Avalanche leader Joel Quenneville. Since then, they are 15-4-1 overall and 9-1-3 at home.

Tied with the Anaheim Ducks for fourth place in the Western Conference entering Tuesday’s games, Chicago is finally more than just the Cubs.

And yes, it’s a buzz worth hearing.

Tuck Rule

Justin Tuck of the NY football Giants got flagged on the play for this "hit" and was later fined $7,500 from the league office. Roger Goodell is on some kind of McCarthyan crusade here trying to smoke out and eliminate the big hitters in the league. Show that to your kids learning to play the game, that is a textbook, perfect form tackle - wrap up, facemask in the chest and drive through.

Just give the qb's flags from now on, this is a joke.

Here's the thing:

The NFL encourages players growing to astronomical proportions (naturally or unnaturally). Look at the size of the average lineman drafted out of college in the last 5-6 years, proof enough. Big dudes sell! It sells under armour, it sells whey protein, it sells EAS systems. The NFL policy is make money off their bodies anyway they can, fatten them up when they are in the league and slim them down with nutrisystem after

Brooks Bollinger should get fined for holding on to the ball for so long, or Flozell Adams for getting SMOKED on that whiff of a block, not Justin Tuck. I'm cryin foul on this one, I really hope this fine doesn't stand up and doesn't continue a trend.

How can you ask these guys to lighten up their hits on qbs when you have giants like Big Ben or Donovan McNabb shedding tacklers weekly? This is bad for the league, next thing you know there will be no tackling at all, and hell if they aren't gonna tackle, why block? Lets just play 7 on 7's with no contact, that will be good for the league...

Franchises That Make Me LOL

The decision to write this came solely on a whim, sparked by yet another questionable decision by the Knicks that I will describe later. It made me think how much humor I find when stupid people do stupid things. I figured then, for completion purposes, to publicly call out those organizations that have failed to the point that I actually have laughed at them.

Detroit Lions
The franchise that has drafted a wide receiver in the first round of four of the last six drafts never ceases to amaze me. For years, they continually employed a man that has driven a team into the ground that still gets a national spotlight on Thanksgiving. Finally, they fired GM/CEO/Moron Matt Millen in the first right move they have made in years, but just when I was ready to give the 0-7 Lions a much needed break, quarterback Dan Orlovsky does this.

Kansas City Chiefs
Herm Edwards, Damon Huard, Brodie Croyle, and (yes, he's good, but a disaster right now) Larry Johnson.

Pittsburgh Pirates
95, 94, 95, 95, 89, 87, 89, 100, 93, 83, 93. Those were the loss totals for the Pirates over the last 11 years. How terrible is a franchise if they can't have at least one winning season in the past 16 years. It's one thing to be bad, but give the Pirates credit, at least they are consistent.

New York Knicks
Where do I begin? This is the reason I even wrote this in the first place. This abomination all started with the idiotic hiring of Isiah Thomas. Thomas destroyed everything Larry Bird had built up for the Pacers but was named the President of Basketball Operations for the Knicks in 2003. Since then, he has taken one of the most popular franchises in sports and demolished them to insignificance. The Knicks have made one bad decision after another, starting with a trade for Stephon Marbury orchestrated by Isiah Thomas. Factor in an awful trade for Eddie Curry where the Knicks gave up two first round picks, neither of which was protected in case the Knicks ended up in the lottery. As a side note, Sports Illustrated reported that Eddie Curry sat on an exercise ball during the offseason and popped it. I can't help but laugh at this team. Finally, after firing Isiah Thomas, (years too late) they seemed to be on the way to recovery with smart signings of Mike D'Antoni and Donnie Walsh. After everything started looking brighter, the Knicks announced today that they cut Patrick Ewing, Jr. to get the roster down to the required 15. Maybe on a basketball standpoint this isn't the worst move in the world, but this franchise has absolutely nothing going for it at this point. Any sign of good expectations, no matter how slim, is a step in the right direction, and even if Ewing, Jr. never plays, simply having the name "Patrick Ewing" on the Knicks should make both Knicks fans smile. But alas, the stupid decision was made by the stupid people, and the Knicks have sent me from LOLing to ROFLing once more.

How to fix the Yankees (part 329847293874)

Let me say right off the bat that the rumors of the demise of the New York Yankees has been Tragically over exaggerated. Lets take a look, as I always like to do, at the numbers that tell the true story. As you see here,

The first thing you have to consider, obviously, is wins. It is the one defining, lasting characteristic of a season. The number of wins the Yankees ended up with may surprise you, that number is 89. To put that in perspective, when they won the World Series in 2000, they finished with 87 wins. In 2007 they finished with 94 wins. The problem this year was that they played in one of the strongest divisions in the history of major league baseball. The Rays and Red Sox both went deep into the playoffs and had 97 and 95 wins respectively. Since there can only be one wildcard, the Sox edged them out. If the playoffs were decided by merit only and there were no divisions, just the top 8 teams, they Yankees would have been a 7 seed, they finished with more wins than the Dodgers who made the playoffs, and had Joe Torre. I'm just saying.

Anyway, there is obvious temptation to hit the panic button, but prudence is imperative...prudence of course is relative, Yankee prudence. So some quick hit thoughts about how to fix the Yanks:

1. Sign Mark Texiera

This goes without saying, we fill 1b with as solid a position player as there is in the league and do it for less money than Giambi was due to receive, no brainer. Get Tex, spare no cost.

2. Bring back Moose

This may seem unpopular, but the guy had 20 wins and was an absolute ace. He has finally adjusted to his new velocity, or lack there of, and should be able to be as suitable a 4/5th starter as there is in the league. Give him 2 years, let him get to 300 wins (he stands at 270). The money is an issue, its better to overpay short term than lock up a guy long term, which brings me to....

3. Leave CC alone

There is no way this guy with that body can last 7 years effectively and deserves the kind of money he will be asking for. Don't even bother getting in the bidding war, steer clear. He is a disaster waiting to happen and having him locked up long term will end up being a burden later on. Again, pay short term, spare your long term.

4. Re-sign Pavano

Another possibly unpopular move, but we have sunk $40 Mil to get this guy healthy and have nothing to show for it, if we get him short term again, 2-3 years, with options for maybe a 4th and 5th, we can have a solid back of the rotation guy with a newly repaired elbow, if nothing else this will be a great insurance policy.

5. Cano and Melky

Yea, I don't know what to do with these two, but they need to play better or we are doomed haha.

Any comments?

Hockey, eh

So the hockey season is in full swing and so far, the Devils of New Jersey are looking fairly good, (besides this weekend's games). Obviously since we played the two teams I hate the most this week, The Rangers and Flyers, and God hates my sports teams, they lost all three. Martin Brodeur made just a silly save that had no business being saved, he is a phenom. The stinkbomb thrown on the ice Saturday during OT was obviously a sign of class from the always amicable Philadelphia fans and the reason the Devils lost.

Zach Parise and Patrick Zajac are two emerging stars and hopefully we lock them up for the long term, obviously adding another scorer would help and getting Holik and Rolston back will be a boost.

Les Miserables (read: NY Jets Fans)

Another week and another pathetic stumble to the finish line victory by the head of scouting for the Detroit Lions Brett Favre and the boys in Green (yes you may recall they do actually wear green jerseys and are not the Titans, they are 6-0).

The most notable point of this game was the once again yawn-inspiring offense from Brian Schottenheimer and Man-not a genius. A few things to point out about the offense by the numbers:

135

As in135 rushing yards against a Chief team that is last in the league in rush defense, take away a 60 yard run (by far the longest rush of the season by a Jet) by Leon Washington, and they posted a pathetic 75 yards, or an average of 3.3 yards per carry. A pedestrian number for an offensive line that boasts 4 number 1 picks. This brings us to...

6

As in 6 offensive touches for Leon Washington. The guy is the most explosive player on the team bar none, the only player who can create his own space and the only player who is a threat to break free every time he touches the ball. The fact that he only got 6 touches is a crime, 3 rushes, one of which he broke free for a 60 yarder on what was nothing more than an iso up the middle, and 3 catches, one being a dump pass he took for 18 yards and the score. I can't make it any clearer, get this guy the ball!!!

1

As in less than 1 yard to go on a 3rd down play late in the game in the Jets zone. Instead of pounding it up the gut with Jones, or even rolling out on a playfake and dumping off to a back or one of the three amigos we have playing TE, we decide to send one on Fed Ex overnight air in a laughable pass that was nowhere near a completion. Yes throw the ball deep, no not on 3rd and one in our own zone.

3.9

As in 3.9 yards per carry by featured back Thomas Jones. I always thought Jones was a serviceable runner, but thats basically all he is. He is only capable of getting what you give him. One thing our offense lacks is the possibility of getting a first down on 1st and 10 or 2nd and 8-10 on a run play. Curtis Martin did this beautifully, he was the master of the 12 yard run when we needed it. He would rarely break out for 60-80, but boy was he good at getting 12, Emmit Smith was the same way. Jones just barrels into where he's supposed to go and hopes momentum takes him home, not a very creative runner.

In closing, the Jets are never going to be dominant in a game they should be dominant in, and will probably never be out of a game they should be out of, they are gonna hang around punchdrunk and hopefully steal enough wins to make the playoffs. The defense is playing great, and Kerry Rhodes is probably the best safety in the NFL right now.

This week at Buffalo will be the first real test since the New England game, this is a big game.

NY football soap opera (As the World Turnpikes)

Heyyy hey all y'all. Just wanted to hit everybody up from class and provide some food for thought. The NY football Giants are sitting atop the ferocious NFC East with a perfect 3-0 record, while the Jets are suddenly riding high off a big win Sunday versus the Cards.

Though this is not news, this bit of karma soaked gossip may be. Roger Goodell announced today that the Super Bowl halftime entertainment will be provided by the raspy Asbury Parkian, Bruce Springstein. Couple that with the fact that the big game is in Tampa this year, the unofficial NYC retirement village, and I think we have all the fixins for an all New (Jersey) York Super Bowl this year.

Exciting stuff boys and girls.

Oh baby

So I just saw the latest episode of the newest season of Entourage and let me say in the words of Larry David, "Prettayyy pret-tay pretttayyy prettty pretaay pretty good."

Solid episode, I really enjoy the way they are going to pit Ari against E and put Vince in the middle. I hope Ari hits E and Vince with a bus and eliminates two of the least believable characters in television history. Ok, not fucking likely, but a kid can dream.

Either way another hilarious showing by America's new favorite future 12-stepper one Johnny Drama.

I say keep the booze flowin and the laughs comin Johnny. Amen.

Meet the Mets!

Hey congratulations Mets fans....oh wait, they what?

They lost to Florida to be eliminated from playoff contention on the last day of the season?

No, no that was last year...wait you mean, again? Ohh....well, this is awkward..

Sorry Los Mets, maybe next year.

I'm back babbbbyyyyy

Hey there guys and dolls...it's been a while, but the kid is back!

Stay tuned for some righteous exciting posts soon to follow, also expect more entertainment movie/tv/celeb stuff along with all the sports.

Rock on. And here is a picture of Brtiney Spears' comeback, which I haven't followed up on but assume is a perfect example of a successful return.

We're talkin baseball!!!

Ok so my fantasy team sucks the big fat one and didn't take long to drop to last place, stupid rotisserie.

I am excited about a big season coming up from the Yankees. I wont get into the team or on field stuff right now, lets let the season develop a bit, but I will get into the controversial new Stadium.

Basically a lot of Yankee fans are pretty pissed about a new stadium being built, "the house that Ruth built!!" they cry, but I say to them - shut up. There isn't a major sports team in the world that wouldn't KILL for a new stadium that'll be half as badass as the new Yankee Stadium.

The current stadium is a far cry from the house that Ruth built anyway, they remodeled the whole thing in the 70's and in fact, the new stadium will be modeled after the old one from an architectural standpoint. The current stadium is small and out of date and ill suited to serve the capacity it receives nightly.

Two things to be glad about the new stadium,

1. It isn't selling it's name as so many new stadiums do, it will still be called good old Yankee Stadium.
2. It is in the same spot! There were rumors of moving the stadium to a slew of new locations all over the tri-state area, we will still be the bronx bombers.

I for one am excited for the new stadium, the only question that remains is will it be known as the house that Jeter built, or the house that A-Rod built, only time will tell.

In entertainment news

The early to mid part of 2008 looks promising as far as movies go, here are 4 must sees in my expert opinion...watch movies now because come September the results of the writers strike will rear its ugly head in the movie industry.

First off, a movie thats already out in limited release, it's called In Bruges and stars Colin Farell and Ralph Fiennes and is hillarious. Basically two hitmen are hiding out in Bruges, Belgium, one is hired to kill the other, there are midgets and drugs and guns and hookers and hillarity ensues. Collin Farell is surprisingly good and Ralph Fiennes is not surprisingly good.

The next movie comes from the creator of Superbad and Knocked Up, Judd Apatow. It stars Jason Segel from How I Met Your Mother, possibly the funniest straight man around, as well as a cast of characters from other Apatow flicks, and new addition, and a favorite of internet nerds, Kristen Bell. It's Called Forgetting Sarah Marshall, enjoy!

The next movie comes from the same group, Apatow Productions, and looks like it could be the next Dumb and Dumber, an immature buddy movie that looks hill-arious. It stars Will Ferrel and John C. Rielly and is called Step Brothers, enjoy.

And finally, what may be the most anticipated movie of the year, Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins, will hit theaters this summer. There's nothing to say about this movie that hasn't been said because it just looks awesome, everything a blockbuster movie should be. Shame about Heath Ledger, but he's definitely going to own this role. Plus Christian Bale may be the best leading man in Hollywood right now. My only complaint is replacing one annoying droopy faced bitch, Katie Holmes, with another, Maggie Gyllenhaal. Enjoy.

Duke loses, America rejoices, blogger = sad

Ok, ok, let's hear it...all the Duke haters rejoice I know everyone's thrilled about their early departure in March Madness.

Speaking of March Madness, how about all four 1 seeds being in the final four? How network tv is that, BORING. Worst of all is that secretary in your office who just picked the higher seeds to win all the games and is now in first place in the pool.

I blog about hot chicks and sports

Hello there faithful readers....as a penance for my extended absence, here are some hot chicks!!!

For starters, Keeley Hazell, Professional British piece of ass.

Next up, representing America, Janice Dickinson!!! Just kidding, thats gross. How about the Hills' Lauren Conrad.

And lastly, rounding out the top 3 international babes of a Thursday morning before noon, Brazilian tasty treat Adrianna Lima. YOWZA!

Oscar Turns 80, still doesn't receive social security

So last night's Oscar Ceremony went off pretty well, not too many surprises really except Ellen Page being 21 years old, and hot.

THE WINNERS:
Best Picture - No Country for Old Men
Best Director - Joel and Ethen Cohen
Best Screenplay - Diablo Cody for Juno
Best Actor - Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will be Blood
Best Actress - Marion Cotillard for La Vie en Rose
Best Supporting Actor - Javier Bardem for No Country for Old Men
Best Supporting Actress - Tilda Swinton for Michael Clayton

Clearly No Country was the big winner, and from what I hear of the other movies, rightfully so. Juno also went from being a "happy to be nominated" movie to a legit winner. George Clooney...well, fuck George Clooney, Michael Clayton sounds like a Wide Receiver name. PS. Tom Wilkinson is the new Brian Cox.

I'm F*cking Matt Damon/Ben Affleck, hillarious

So in case any of you were unaware, Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman have been dating, who cares right? Anyway, in a brief spat of relevance the couple has released a set of dueling youtube-esque videos.

Sarah Silverman started it off with this gem about the Oscar winning screen writer and star of Stuck on You.

To which Jimmy responded with much ownage:

Personally i think they're pretty funny, check them out.

PS - if you only have time for one, the second one is funnier.

More hot futbol fuckers

Dude if these are the chicks that date guys that play soccer, I gotta fuckin learn how to play some soccer.

Abigail Clancy. Enjoy.

Sports = Sad face

So this is definitely the worst time of the year for most sports fans. Mid-season NBA drudgery, college basketball watering down all the highlight shows, and hockey getting no love. Golf has started up but is yet to have an event that matters, in which Mickelson will be oh so close, until he triple bogies 16 on Sunday and Tiger goes on an 8 birdie streak and displays some of the most emphatic fist pumping outside of the Jersey Shore.

March Madness will be upon us soon, but even that gets to be overkill.

Either way, baseball is hanging over us like Josh Beckett's gut over the spandex waist band of his gym shorts. (LOLJocks)

Smell that fresh cut grass, dirt, leather, and pine tar and let the jabberjaw chit chat infield chatter begin. Heeyyyyy whadaya say now whadaya say now lets see a steeerike hereee nah!!!

Love it. Also, I found this Barry Bonds rookie card.

Gordie Howe Hat Trick

So hockey is on the up and up in America, ok not really but it should be. The league is finally starting to recover from the strike and recession in talent with some legitimate young stars emerging. Guys like Alexander Ovechkin, Evengi Malkin, and of course Sid the Kid Crosby, are bringing a new athleticism and skill set to the league. Time to get excited.

The two best teams by the looks of it right now have go to the be Red Wings and the Devils. Look for them to meet up in the Finals for a rematch of the exciting 1995 upset cup victory for the Devs. The new Prudential center is starting to fill up nicely too.

Roger Clemens Eats Pieces of shit like you for Breakfast

Roger Clemens (left)

So for the time being it seems like we can be through with hearing about Dodgey Rodgey (shut up, its funny) and the HGH/steroid/MacNamee bullshit scandal.

This charade has made pretty much everyone involved, including the United States Congressional Hearing Committee, look like total fuckwads.

The big winner in this is Andy Pettite who has officially been granted a second life. Here's a guarantee for you, in Dandy Andy's (shut up thats funny too) first start at Yankee Stadium, he will get a standing ovation. New Yorkers are very forgiving (see, Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, Randy Johnson, Hideki Irabu, Kyle Farnsworth, Etc.)

Good morning world, it's been a while - here are some hot chicks

Welcome back faithful blog-hogs, thanks for being patient.

As a reward here are several hot pictures, of hot chicks.

We'll start with British babe Gemma Atkinson, I can only think of two reasons why she matters...

Next up, continuing our salute to Great Britain, Keeley Hazell...I think these chicks fuck soccer players or something....

Finally I'll bring it back to the good old US of A and have a look at all American hottie Rachel Bilson, and star of the critically acclaimed movie Jumper, out now!!!

McNamee lays down the mushroom stampage

Apparently this Roger Clemens thing will not go away. Rumor has it that Brian McNamee saved physical evidence with Clemens' DNA on it (syringes, gauze, etc.). This would be a big step in making Clemens shit his pants and start back tracking on some of that denying.

"Did I say I didn't do HGH? I meant that I did do HGH, although I never knowingly denied it."

More or less, look for this to drag out until March Madness or Spygate takes center stage, also look for no one to care, and way to many Roger Cossack appearances on the WWL.

Also, is it just me or doesn't the government and congress and senators have better things to do than worry about baseball and football? Like isn't there a war, a recession and an election going on this year? Thats a triple whammie.

I think steroids and spygate ought to take a backseat, its a waste of fucking tax dollars and resources. If these people have so much free time to take on something like this, then why do we need them? Just something to think about.

DUKKEEE!!! 89-78

That's right baby blue, the Dukies came into Chapel Hill and stomped your shit. Even the ghost of Dickie V can't root hard enough for you fucks...HA! Don't give me any of that Ty Lawson crap, if Len Pasquerelli can vote and write with 5 blocked arteries [MMQB] there's no way you shouldn't play with a sprained ankle.

The game itself wasn't that excited, UNC couldn't shoot for shit from 3-pt. land and pretty much lacked any chance in this one. Duke played a pretty good all around game, Greg Paulus is turning into quite the little floor QB. Gotta root for Coach K though, classic stuff. All in all it means nothing for Duke other than securing the #2 overall ranking for a little longer, since Memphis just isn't gonna lose, fucking John Callipari....

Either way, this is the last relevant college basketball game for a while, so look forward to pitchers and catchers reporting soon.

Welcome to the Suck

So pretty much from now until March madness is the equivalent to sporting purgatory, nay sporting Hell. Prepare your sensors for pages and pages of garbage about basketball and pretty much nothing about good sports like hockey. There will be an occasional golf event but let me fill you in on the next 6-7 weeks worth of news.

TOP 5 NEWS ITEMS OF THE NEXT FEW WEEKS:
1. Spygate
2. Steroidgate
3. Tiger Woods
4. 10 minutes worth of ESPN bottom line devoted to every NCAA game in America
5. Lebron James

Look foward to a pop culture onslaught on this site in the near future. As soon as I see a movie, I'll review it. Until then, check out this trailer for the Judd Apatow production starring the funniest one of them all, Jason Segel, it's called Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Happy Wednesday, Linksauce

Super Bowl By the Numbers

Ok so here's a little bit of Super Bowl musings by the Numbers.

17-14 - The Giants were a -12 underdog at kickoff, and I'd be surprised if there weren't more bets made for the Pats to cover than the other way around. Finally it pays off to be a NY fan without remorse $$$$.

18-1 - Total garbage, Don Shula and the Miami Fruitcakes of '72 are surely sharing a Shirley Temple or Appletini or two today. The perfect season now means nothing, there's one word to describe it....Imperfect.

5,2,1 - Tack,Sack,FF by Justin Tuck, who was simply a MONSTER on that defensive line. He is sure to haunt Brady's dream's for a few weeks.

:01 - The amount of time left on the clock when Bill "Bitch Tits" Bellicheck decided to storm the field for a forceful handshake and then abandon his team by cowering away into the locker room while his defense assembled for the final kneel down. This was one of the most disgraceful disregards for sportsman ship i have ever seen. It was an embarrassment and he should be fined or chastised in some way, that is a crime.

2/5 - Giants red zone scores out of red zone trips. Amazing that they would win with such low productivity in the red zone, the Pats on the other hand were 2/2.

So for what it's worth, there you go...the numbers don't lie.

Upsetting Upset.

Ok ok so the Giants won. Not to sound like a douche, but I definitely started rooting for them in the second half when I really saw Brady-Bellicheck squirming and realized how absolutely fulfilling it would be to see them lose. Not to take anything away from the G-Men but the Pats really shit the bed (KSK). The Giants D really showed up and had one hell of a pass rush tormenting Teflon Tom like Lionel Richie, all night long. So 17-14, the Giants manned up and showed some testicular fortitude and smacked the beast in the mouth.

Tom Coughlin is one tough old school son of a bitch, but I guess all they needed was one less Barber around. Also tons of credit should go to Steve Spagnulo for calling a flawless defensive game plan. The hero of the day though was no question Eli Manning. He showed that although he is a little childish prick (see draft day '04), he still has a steel set of balls and had the coolest play I've seen in a long time, shaking off an entire defensive line and completing a nutso pass to David Tyree. Either way, the Giants are now world champs.

Giants win...whoopty doo

Yea yea....The Giants won, I'll post about this and the commercials later, but to hold you over here is the face you're gonna see more than you're ready for over the next season.

How gay is that?......

GUEST POST FROM A GIANTS FAN

M - Ruse lays out an effective mushroom stamp...

I have just about had it with you Jets fans. "Giants fans on the other hand, are the most generic type of sports fan that exists, nothing is more boring than a Giants fan" I've had enough of these statements of haterism from jealous ass Jets fans. Let me put a few things in perspective for Jgrills and the rest of you fucktards in Gang Green.

1.)The Giants are a home team. Whether or not your a giants fan, a New York team should always be cheered for, especially when they are about to play a team from New England. And in case you forgot, they are called the "New England" Patriots so the rest of the who gives fuck states North of New York have someone to cheer for to try to distract them that their area sucks. It's just a bigger code word for "Boston." If you are from New Jersey or New York, your natural hatred for Bean town should supercede your divisional jealousy for one game. Boston is our mortal enemy, act accordingly.

2.) Do you really want to see Tom Brady and the douchebags that play with him win another superbowl? Would you rather see Eli, a guy who has started to come into his own despite media scrutiny, prima donna team teammates, and an asshole former star rb sayin him trying to lead was comical, win his first Superbowl or would you like to see pieces of nut infested laxative induced shit like Randy Moss and Rodney Harrison hoist the Lombardi Trophy? We already had to sit back, grin, and deal with another Red Sox World Championship. And with the Celtics already on the road to a championship of their own, we're going to be looking at a Boston Sweep of the major prime time sports. If the Bruins some how managed to win the Stanley Cup, duck and cover because the four horsmen of the apocolypse have assembled and the end of the world is on it's way. Think of how much more satisfying it would be to see Brady on the sidelines with his head down, knowing all his accomplishments for this year we're for shit as he watched his perfect season go right down the drain at the hands of another Manning and the big blue wrecking crew.

3.) I hate to be the one to break this to Gang Green, BUT YOU TEAM IS FUCKIN BORING!!!!! No giants fan will ever be as boring as a Jets game. The jets are without a doubt, one of the most boring teams to watch in the NFL. They play without excitement, without heart, and most without any remote form of balls every Sunday. Any given Giants game is like bungie jumping compared to the Valium feel I get while watching the Jets. I've seen monkey shit fights at the zoo that were more entertaining. And the only thing worse than watching them is is listening to the bitter, miserable, assnut fucks who support, and i'm using the word "support" very loosely here, them give their "I just watched my team embarass themselves again so I'll just hate on your team so my life has some meaning again" views on the Giants or any other team in league for that matter. Your never happy and you assholes always find something to complain about. You get pissed at Edwards for leaving when most of you did nothing but bitch about him while he was there, even though he actually got the team to play like they had a pair during his time. You're all over Mangenious's dick when he takes a team that should have been no better than .500 to the play-offs, and turn on him like bickering high school chick best friends because the team couldn't handle playing a simple defensive set. And if I ever saw Jets fan get behind a Quaterback and stay loyal I might die of shock. You prayed for injury for Testeverde so you could get your precious saviour, Chad Pennington in. You totally turned your back on him and even callously cheered as he hobbled off the feild so the Jets wouldn't have to burn a time-out, and Clemens took the field. And You have the nerve to bitch that he didn't instantly turn the team and the pussified way they played the game around. He's a fuckin rookie people. It doesn't always happen overnight. Show some loyalty and devotion instead of demanding your qb be crucified for once. And perhaps the most annoying thing about you as of late is your total willingness to cheer on your New England based, media dick-rided,18-0 AFC East Rival to make history, simply because your jealous the "other" New York team made it. That is the biggest differnce between the fans. Your average Giants fan will cheer for the Jets when they are in the playoffs, especially against New England. But a Jets fan would rather live in his own misery then see the Giants prosper over adveristy to pull off what could be one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl History. Your worse than the front running Pats and Cowboys fans living in New Jersey combined.

So call me generic. My generic ass is gonna watch my Giants attempt to bring some Championship hardware and some respect back to our area again. So grow the fuck up Jets fans and jump on the band wagon, if only for a day. Go out and buy a Giants NFC EAST Champion shirt, call Tiki Barber a Douchebag, and get behind Big Blue.

SUPER SUNDAY

Before I remind you of something you definitely haven't forgotten about, let me remind you about something you probably have forgotten...Britney spears used to be hot!

Moving on...

Did you know today is the Super Bowl? [ESPN]

Anyway, I'm pretty torn myself as to who to root for. I'm a Jet fan so by my very nature I'm a miserable/ with a chip on my shoulder/ misery loves company, type. So of course the last thing I want to see are the fans of my two most hated teams, being happy.

On one hand, I'm used to the Pats winning at this point, and the gloating really has to level off, even for a perfect season.

Giants fans on the other hand, are the most generic type of sports fan that exists, nothing is more boring than a Giants fan, and nothing will be more annoying than hearing them praise Eli, lucky bastards don't know what they've had.

Of course the new spygate news coming out of Washington might just be all the Dark Lord Bellicheck needs to give his troops that extra bit of "fuck you" that they need to steamroll old blue and white.

Either way, I will be rooting for the commercials and hopefully posting the best of the best tomorrow, stay tuned.

My TOP 5 SUPER BOWL PREDICTIONS:
Presented by Michael Strahan's ex-wife.

5. I will eat over 12 chicken wings - this one is a lock, bet the barn.

4. Putting the +/- for hearing about spygate at 2.5 times during actual gameplay, I'm taking the over.

3. Joe Buck will say something annoying and irrelevant at least once every 4 minutes of gameplay.

2. Tiki Barber will cry - I hope.

1. The winner of the game will be - no one, two of the douchiest fans alive...prepare for misery for the next couple days if you know fans of either winning team.

Until next time...drink a lot.

Moss, Johan, And the Worst Week of the Sporting Year...

Oh, Randy!

Who's the fastest receiver on the Patriots?
That'd be Randy Moss

Who is the best receiver on the Patriots?
That'd be Randy Moss

Who cry babied his way out of Minnesota and Oakland by a myriad of childish antics, including admitting to only playing hard when he wants to?
That'd be Randy Moss

So what gives with Moss suddenly getting so much respect from the collective sports media??? ...(ESPN)

Either way, he's been shut down the entire playoffs and hopefully will display some sort of crybaby actions during the big game when Wes Welker has 12 catches by half time.

We traded Johan for who???

The collective response from all seven Twins fans out there in Minnesota. Really this trade was absurd, clearly Minnesota was out of options. Not surprising that Omar Minaya picked up another Hispanic player though, there is a bit of a trend there.

In my opinion the Mets are still just odds on favorites to win the NL, but I don't see them matching up with Boston, NY Yankees, or Detroit...or even Anaheim, in the series. Johan had an off year last year but will surely start out big in the NL. Look for a 10-11 win first half and then watch it level out after the break.

The problem with the disparity in payroll in the MLB is two-fold. Sure it sucks for the small market teams that the Yankees and Boston and the Mets spend all the money in the world, and they have none. But it's equally unfair for said teams to have to bid on every big name out there just to keep him away from the other two.

God forbid a free-agent actually had a chance of going to ANY team.

Either way I'll leave you with this picture of perennial hottie Heidi Montag...God Bless America!

Monday's Hair of the Dog

Good morning all...

The first non-football, non-baseball weekend has came and went and it seems we have survived. Tiger Woods is bucknasty, and Jim Brown is diminishing his legacy as the 14th best actor in the movie Mars Attacks. This Monday marks the first day of the longest, most arduous week in sports - Super Bowl week. Here to save you from Peter King's afro and Chris Berman's jabber jaw, is a photo of the lovely Marissa Miller:

So today's TOP 5.....

Top 5 Super Bowl week Buzz Words:

5.
Dynasty - yea, we get it, the Patriots are a dynasty there's not much to debate there.

4. Spygate - anyone remember the little run in with Roger "Johnny Law" Goodell, and the whole cheating thing? That was this year for the record. I'd throw an asterik in here, but thats been done. Right NY Post???

3. Boot - apparently Tom Brady was wearing some sort of a boot this week? Don't worry though the Pats injury report comes out this Wednesday, so that will clear things right up.... DAS BOOT!!!

2. Motor - a motor that doesn't stop...that's how sportscasters describe a white player that tries really hard, see Wes Welker, Mike Vrabel and Tedy Bruschi.

1. Fuck! - surely to be the most spoken word during the most watched and more importantly, most betted on event of the entire year. So don't forget, while putting Juniors college fund on the line - tails never fails.

Well happy trails campers...until next time.

A little blurb about YOUR BOY

What up world,

Figured I'd tell you a little bit about myself. I'm a big time sports fan, and a bigtime pop culture fan. I'm a child of the 90's and act as such. I'm born and raised in Jersey and again act as such.

My teams:
Jets
Yankees
Devils
Duke

I read blogs way too often, and not just sports, i have a bit of a pension for seeing whether or not britney spears is wearing a bra or what kinda antics that crazy lindsay lohan is up to.

So for now, enjoy, comment, agree, more likely disagree, but welcome to my mind.

Welcome

Happy Saturday fuckers! Hope everyone had a kickin Friday and I hope you are all still hung over.

I'm gonna start off this blog with the two biggest blog attractions, lists and hot chicks. - here's a hot chick

Photobucket

That's Ana Ivanovic, the little biscuit that just lost to one Maria Sharipova in last night's Aussie Open final.

So now to the list. Today i'll start with a simple top 5.

TOP 5 REASONS TO HATE TOM BRADY:

5. His chin shares a similar cleft to his ass, which explains his constant shit eating grins.

4. He sullied the good vagina of one Miss Bridget Moynahan with an unholy spawn of a child.

3. Has he ever been sacked? Ever?

2. The oh so gay kerchief that adorns his ever-queer post game suit. Come on, you are not Al Capone, and we all know you wipe your nose with 100 dollar bills and Jets season tickets.

1. He tucks. And the tuck is soooo Buffalo Bill.

Well, for now, goodbye horses. Until next time!
